My Mom's Music

My development as a recording engineer parallels my journey as a keyboard player/composer. After tiring of borrowing or renting gear to record my musical ideas I purchased my first piece of recording equipment, a Fostex X-15. It was a portable 4- track cassette tape based multitrack recorder, which with my Casio 101 keyboard and Korg DD1 Drum Machine enabled me to record and create original ideas/songs. It also marked a journey into a phenomena I tagged as "gear disease", something almost every musician I know has suffered from at some point.

During the years that followed I acquired better keyboards, drum machines, multi-track and sequencing equipment. Over time I started using a computer to do my sequencing and programming. My first computer was an Atari 2040, using Cubase software. Computers eventually got more powerful as did the software, to the point where one could record directly onto the hard disk. By this time I had become proficient in programming, especially electronic drums (being a drummer never hurt), but with this new possibility I set out to record my drum set live and with that I delved into the world of digital recording.

Eventually I outgrew the bedroom I used as my studio, and decided to expand and lease a space that would facilitate the work I do for my clients. I now have a well equipped fully functional digital recording studio, capable of handling all kinds of possibilities. From recording and mixing full length albums, to music demos, voiceovers or radio spots and jingles. All this is handled with my approach of serving the music and helping the client realize their goal, in a professional and timely manner.
